About Me

Hi! Thanks for visiting The Contemplative Crafter.

This is me at Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. So why am I carrying a camera instead of a crochet hook? It's because I love to photograph wildflowers and go on road trips - believe me, the hook was in the car!. Mike and I also love to hike in the mountains.

My name is Lisa and I am an avid crocheter. I own The Pen and Hook on Etsy where I sell Darn Good Yarns and Lion Brand products, crocheted gifts, cards and fabric covered journals on which to write down all of your ideas.

On this blog I intend to work on crochet and other crafts, share our experiences on the road, share news about my store and above all to explore the link between spirituality and crafting. I have a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a Master’s of Religion in Spiritual Formation from Point Loma Nazarene University and Northwest Nazarene University respectively, so I am forever curious about what makes human beings tick and about what brings us closer to God.

I come from a family of creative people; along with other crafting interests the women were also crocheters and I think that my interest began when one of my ancestors picked up her first hook. It was modeled before me by my Aunt Alice, my Grandma Hart, and my mom – where else could I go but to the yarn store to join in the fun?
